Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba, detained by Customs officials at the international airport for allegedly not declaring gold and diamond jewellery worth over Rs 50 lakh, was let off after 16 hours of questioning, officials said.
According to a senior customs officer, “We got a tip-off about her carrying jewellery above the permissible limit. We intercepted her at the green channel. Lamba was allowed to
go at 1 am after 16 hours of questioning and recording of statement. She is likely to be called today as well”.
The 26-year-old actor, who landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport from Cannes, France via Dubai by an Emirates flight at 8.30 am, was crossing the green channel when she was intercepted by the Customs officials.
The actress walked the red carpet at the Cannes film festival last week. She has been charged with carrying Rs 50 lakh worth of jewellery above the permitted limit and was detained by custom officials.
She spent the afternoon being questioned about the jewelry and was arrested. A statement will be recorded and a case will be registered against her.
